What are the properties of EcoLogic's polyurethane coatings?

What makes them suitable for a wide range of industrial applications? A complete description of the properties that can be formulated using polyurethane coatings would fill a book, but here's a quick description of some of the most significant qualities of EcoLogic's polyurethane coatings:

1. ABRASION RESISTANCE

EcoLogic coatings and linings have a remarkable range of properties that enable them to outperform metal, wood, rubber and plastics in many applications where severe wear is a problem. Other benefits include lightweight, long life and reduced cost of maintenance.

2. MECHANICAL PROPERTIES

While conventional elastomers tend to become brittle as they become harder, polyurethanes remain more elastic and resist fracture. Even at their highest hardness levels they have significantly better impact resistance than almost all plastics.

3. FLEX PROPERTIES

EcoLogic coatings resist cracking under repeated fleeting.

4. LOW TEMPERATURE PROPERTIES

Many EcoLogic coatings remain flexible at very low temperatures and possess outstanding resistance to thermal shock. This resistance permits applications in below zero conditions.

5. WATER RESISTANCE

EcoLogic coatings are resistant to the swelling and deteriorating effect of water immersion and have excellent long-term stability in water up to 50oC. Water absorption is very low in the range of .3 - 1 % by weight and volume. Swell is negligible.

6. DRY HEAT RESISTANCE

The coating can be formulated to endure continuous operation up to 120oC or even higher. This depends on the composition of the medium to which EcoLogic coatings are applied and the type of exposure to which it is subjected.

7. ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES

EcoLogic coatings have excellent electrical insulating properties. They can be used extensively in potting and other encapsulating applications where electrical isolation is important.

8. OXYGEN and OZONE RESISTANCE

EcoLogic coating products are highly resistant to degradation by atmospheric oxygen and ozone.

9. OIL, GREASE and CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

While many rubbers and plastics have excellent resistance to one or more specific solvents oils or chemicals, the wide resistance of EcoLogic coatings to chemical attack means they can be used in a multitude of environments with some exceptions.

10. RADIATION RESISTANCE

EcoLogic coatings are considered to have the best resistance to gamma ray radiation. Exposure does not affect their original flexibility and toughness.

11. FLAME RESISTANCE

Special compounds containing flame retardant can be formulated to meet several self- extinguishing or non-burning specifications.

12. MOULD, MILDEW, FUNGUS RESISTANCE

EcoLogic coatings will not support fungus growth and are generally resistant to such attacks, making them suitable material for tropical and high-humidity environments.

13. BONDING TO OTHER MATERIALS

During the spraying process and under controlled conditions EcoLogic coatings will bond to a wide variety of materials. Bond strength on wood, metal, and plastic substrates are often stronger than the substrate itself. The coat is usually several times stronger than rubber and similar substrate bonds. Special techniques can be used to achieve maximum bond strength to various substrate materials.

14. NOISE REDUCTION

EcoLogic coatings are ideal for sound-deadening and anti-vibration applications. EcoLogic coatings will substantially reduce noise and vibration because of their flexibility and extreme resilience.
